The Story
The Baths of Caracalla are among the best-preserved ancient Roman thermae, built between 212-216 AD under Emperor Caracalla. These massive public baths could accommodate up to 1,600 bathers at a time and were not just for washing but served as centers of social life, featuring libraries, gardens, and exercise areas.
