The Story
Piazza Navona is one of Rome's most famous and lively squares, built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian, an ancient Roman arena for athletic competitions. The oval shape of the piazza still follows the original stadium's footprint. During the 17th century, the piazza was transformed into a masterpiece of Baroque art.
